Trace the Original Creator — Trace the Original Creator

Behind every registered photograph is a creator who made protected artistic choices, such as selecting the subject, camera lens, angle, lighting, and timing. Generally, the person who takes the photograph is its author and initial copyright owner.

Identifying this creator is a key step in tracing the original context of an image. Knowing who holds the copyright helps clarify if a public figure's image is being used with proper authorization.
