Caption Provenance — Caption Provenance

Did the original photographer write the caption, or was it added later by a third-party website? Captions can be easily manipulated or rewritten when shared across social networks.

Under copyright group registration rules, photographers submit a list providing the title and file name assigned to each photograph. Verifying these official registration details, when available, can help separate the creator's original description from speculative editorial spin.
